The Moxy Athens City is a 10,200 m² hotel, located at Omonoia Square in Athens, and has achieved LEED v4 for Building Design & Construction – Hospitality at Gold level in 2022.

The major renovation of the old “Sarogleio” building, previously used by the District Court of Athens was carried out within the framework of the LEED rating system. Hence, Moxy Athens City is the first hotel in Greece to achieve LEED at Gold level, becoming therefore a benchmark for the industry, especially for city hotels.

The extensive renovation project required a meticulous approach to ensure that the historical and architectural significance of the “Sarogleio” building was preserved while integrating modern sustainability features. The collaborative effort between the developer and the designers led to the successful adaptation of the building’s design and infrastructure to meet the LEED for Hospitality standards. This achievement highlights the commitment of Moxy Athens City to environmental stewardship and the potential for existing buildings to be transformed into sustainable, energy-efficient structures.
