Cyprus Cancer Research Institute
The Cyprus Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) is a 3,300 m2 research institute for Cancer located in Nicosia. CCRI is part of the University of Cyprus campus and is the 1st ever project in Cyprus to achieve LEED.
This new building of the University of Cyprus was constructed with funds from the George and Kaity David Foundation and was named after Nicola David Pinedo who lost the battle with cancer in 2016. The CCRI is a “beacon” for Europe and a significant nucleus for the development of a network of research excellence, highlighting Cyprus as a center for cancer research and patient treatment.
Beyond its programmatic scope and priorities, the CCRI also embraces the transformational shift of buildings to climate change mitigation and sustainability. This meaningful project keeps reminding our community that sustainability is only partial without social responsiveness.
