The new Heraklion International #Airport of #Crete is scheduled to be fully operational in 2025 and will be the second busiest airport in #Greece! Its Terminal is the first one in Greece pursuing #LEED certification through the implementation of a holistic #sustainability strategy minimizing its overall #environmentalfootprint and enhancing #resilience to #climatechange. All of these aspects come together to promote a sustainable airport infrastructure with efficient resource use. By pursuing LEED and the strategies it employs, the new airport facilities at Heraklion will have an overall lower #carbonfootprint than the existing airport and will support the continued #growth of economic activity and provide a world-class transit center for millions of travelers.
